The Simshare team

The core Simshare team members were as follows:
- Gavin Maxwell, Web Developer
- Julian Priddle, Project Coordinator
- Sheila Skinner, Development Officer
- Paul Swain, Information Officer
Danielle Lysaght , UKCLE’s Centre Manager, was Project Manager for the project.
Simshare also benefited from advice from Karen Barton and Michael Hughes (University of Strathclyde), Paul Maharg (Northumbria University), Karen Counsell (University of Glamorgan) and Patricia McKellar (UKCLE; patricia.mckellar@warwick.ac.uk).
Gavin Maxwell
Gavin was Application Developer on UKCLE’s SIMPLE project . He is interested in open source software (OSS) such as Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP, and these have been fundamental to his work for a number of years, which has included a wide range of public and private sector clients, large and small. OSS continues to be Gavin’s main interest, along with related areas such as the democratisation of knowledge.
Gavin studied philosophy at the University of Glasgow before graduating from the University of Stirling with an MSc in information technology in 2002.
Julian Priddle
Julian is a freelance consultant in online learning. His specialist areas include online support for learning in higher and continuing education, the design and development of online learning activities in science and mathematics, usability and accessibility, and environmental science.
Before working in education Julian was a research scientist and spent most of his career with the British Antarctic Survey, He led several research cruises in the Southern Ocean and was involved in a number of national and international programmes. He has completed a PgCert in e-learning, is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a certified member of the Association for Learning Technology.
Julian is a consultant on the FETLAR OER project in mathematics and tutors in online courses on climate change for the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education.
Sheila Skinner
Sheila was the only team member working full time on the project through to April 2010.
She has used simulations and role play for her own learning in a variety of contexts and brings experience of using the SIMPLE and Cyberdam platforms, as well as paper-based role plays. Sheila tested an international simulation project for Glasgow Graduate School of Law earlier in 2009, and has also used simulations in a variety of other training and insight courses.
Sheila holds an LLB (Hons) in Scots law with Spanish. Her previous employment includes work as a paralegal at the Legal Services Agency, legal assistant at the Scottish Law Commission and tutor in law at the University of Edinburgh.
